innovation

As you can imagine, things were a lot different when Sheridan Myers started back in 1993. Our first delivery routes were plotted on “A to Z” maps using measuring wheels. If a delivery had not been made, we would not have been aware until the client called us on the landline to let us know.

Thankfully, technology has advanced allowing us to address these issues. We haven’t been afraid of innovation over the years and have looked to new technology to provide solutions and to improve our customers’ experience with us.

Vehicle Tracking

With our tracked vehicles, we have complete visibility of our fleet – knowing where each vehicle is in real-time and how each driver is driving. This enables us to keep our customers up to date with collections and deliveries and gives us the ability to allocate a driver to last minute bookings, boost productivity, improve customer service and reduce our carbon footprint.

Route Planning

We now use dynamic route planning software and vehicle GPS tracking specially designed for our transport vehicles. Both fixed and removable systems are utilised giving us full flexibility amongst our workforce.

Management Information

Sheridan Myers recognised early on the need for data flow between the stakeholders in our business, whether it be from our recruitment website to our delivery partners’ dedicated portal where training videos and important data can be easily managed. This ensures that up to date information can be shared quickly and effectively.

We run a client portal where their specific quality assessment data can be accessed. There is a menu-driven “additional run” ordering system where costs are immediately suggested, ensuring that our clients are always in control of their spend.

Our systems are designed to meet our clients’ needs and are fit for the modern world in which we operate.

Carbon Reduction

With the introduction of our bespoke vehicle tracking system, we are now even more aware of the mileage involved in delivering the food to our clients. To tackle our carbon footprint, we have already planted over 200 new hedgerows and trees on farms across the UK. We are also members of Carbon Footprint Ltd, where we target and actively work towards the reduction and offset of our emissions.
